Care & Repair England aims to improve national policy and local practice in ways that benefit disadvantaged older people living in poor or unsuitable housing, particularly for those living in the private sector.
This role becomes ever more critical as the number of low income older home owners rises exponentially.
- 90% of older people live in ordinary housing (5% specialist housing, 5% residential care/ other)
- 75% of older people are owner occupiers
- there are more low income home owners than low income tenants
We believe that enabling older people to age well at home needs to be the guiding principle of all housing, health, social care and planning policies.
