Examples of Research Underway

The Health Impacts of Housing Modifications

A collaboration between the Universities of Leeds and Swansea (led by Leeds) aims to identify cost benefits to the NHS resulting from a range of housing interventions undertaken by Care & Repair agencies in Wales. The research is funded by Dunhill Medical Trust as a result of their competition in 2019 to improve the evidence base concerning the impacts of home adaptations on the lives and health of older people, as well as potential cost benefits e.g. to the NHS.

The Efficacy and Cost-effectiveness of Bathing Adaptations- BATH-OUT

BATH-OUT is the first ever large-scale, full RCT trial of home adaptations ever to be undertaken in the UK. Following a successful Feasibility study, in 2020 funding was awarded by EPSRC SCCR for a multi-locality study into the efficacy and cost effectiveness of bathing adaptations. Research partners: Universities of Nottingham, Newcastle, Northumbria and York; Care & Repair England.
